Daily Journal December 4, 1998, By William Thomas Thompson. I have just found another Daily Journal 150 years old. Christians are known as believers, all people know there is a God Jeff Hart is on TV @6:45 a.m. telling sports like it is the most important thing of the day to know before facing the world out there. Actually prayer and Bible reading is the most important thing for sure for us to do first in the morning and meditate all day long. Think right, act right and never be sorry for anything said or done. If we do it right with the wisdom of God, we never need to be sorry for what we said or did. A healthy soul is more important for us. I live and learn everyday more and more along the way, never think you have seen it all because we have just begun to discover life’s greatest rewards. My sister the school teacher just loaned me her husband's book of prayers, scriptures and poems known as Lincoln's Devotional printed first 150 years ago and adopted by Abraham Lincoln after the death of his son. I was totally unaware of such a book until just now, this is a daily reading without any year being mentioned like I suggest my daily journal be used, the date inside the front cover is 1958 Richard O Adams. The day and month is given but no year. The average page has about 50 words compared to 500 in my daily journal. The book is hardback 5 x 7 inches x 1 inch thick. The subjects are - January, The true believer. February - Evidences of the believer. March - Privileges of the believer. April - Duties of the believer-personal, May - duties of the believer to the church. June - Duties of the believer to the world. July - Joys of the believer. August - Sorrows of the believer, September - Temptations of the believer. October - Retrospections of the believer. November - Anticipations of a believer and December - Final blessings of the believer with the introduction written by Carl Sandburg of Flat Rock, N.C., a sub title of the book is "Believers Daily Treasure" Channel Press is listed, Great Neck, N.Y., copyright 1957 and printed by Kingsport Press, Kingsport, Tennessee. Special contents copyrighted, scripture cannot be copyrighted. Library of Congress card number 57-13,471. Most prayer in the book deals with Scripture prayer while the poetry tends to be prayerful, I am very proud to learn of this book. The last subject in December deals with Revelation as I paint art and is a great encouragement to me to know this was used by Abraham Lincoln in daily devotion at this point in his life. We live in a complicated world today with many things to detract us from the true worship of the living God. I feel spiritually motivated to write this journal as I do to paint the everlasting Gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord. I recognize the 'Daily Guidepost' with its "Spirit-lifting thoughts for Everyday of the year" (Dated) as good. There is power in the word of God, let us apply prayer to reading of the word and receive great blessings. Let us love our neighbor and do good to those that hate us or abuse us. Let us rejoice al-ways in the Lord God, let us account to God for our deeds and work in the will of God always. Let us keep our promises as God keeps His promises to us. Let us hear from God and seek to draw closer to the Lord in every thought, deeds and impression. To God be the glory for all things. Praise His Holy Name.
